What this site does not do

This site sets no cookies, embeds no analytics or tracking of any kind, and loads nothing from third-party servers. Every image, stylesheet and script is served from the same server as the page itself. There is no contact form and no login.

That is also why there is no cookie banner: there is nothing to consent to.

Hosting

This site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. When you open a page, Vercel processes the technically necessary connection data on my behalf, under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. For transfers to the USA, Vercel relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

Server log files

Every request is logged automatically with the data your browser sends:

IP address
date and time of the request
the address requested and the amount of data transferred
browser type and operating system
the page you came from, if your browser sends it

This serves the technical operation and security of the site. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — my legitimate interest in a site that works and is not abused. The data is not combined with other sources, not analysed, and deleted automatically by the host after a short time.

A setting stored in your browser

If you switch the theme in the feed, that choice is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so it still applies next time. It never leaves your device and is not transmitted to me or to anyone else. It is necessary to provide the function you asked for (§ 25(2)(2) TDDDG), so it needs no consent. You can remove it any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Email

If you write to me, I process your message and your address in order to reply. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. I delete such messages once they are dealt with, unless I am required to keep them.

External links

This site links to other sites. The moment you follow such a link, that provider's privacy notice applies and they learn your IP address. I have no influence on what happens there.

Your rights

You have the right to access the data held about you (Art. 15), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). An email to the address above is enough.

You can also complain to a data protection authority. The one responsible for me is the Bavarian Data Protection Authority in Ansbach (lda.bayern.de).
